The place itself is gorgeous, the view from the terrace is nice if you like contemplating the Démolition in Peney.
The food was totally disappointing. Two mini-starters - one very good (a kind of gélée of foie-gras), the other pathetic (two decomposed little shrimp hanging over a miniature bowl of gazpacho - the ready-to-eat gazpacho at the Migros is better).
Then my husband and I had two courses each. Tiny, tiny little courses at that. Though lucky they were so small considering the amount of salt that appeared to have been poured over everything. The escalope de foie-gras I had was overcooked, salty as hell and sitting on a bed of uninspired mango chutney. My husband had cannelloni of lobster which was very salty as well but fairly tasteless. This all went from bad to worse with the main courses - salty and tasteless.
The service was terribly slow and terribly pretentious. The waiters were all buzzing around like bees but never seemed to actually be carrying any dishes!
We didn't bother with dessert (after 3 hours to be served 2 dishes we were fed up). The bill came to CHF 520.- for 2 starters and 2 main dishes (no side dishes presented other than a soup-spoon-sized miniature bowl of mashed potatoes - how twee!), 2 apéritifs, 1 bottle of Evian and 1 bottle of Dézaley.
I was expecting at those prices Girardet (where we had eaten several times before he retired and were always astounded by the food).
Frankly, the food's better at Châteauvieux's cheaper restaurant the Café de Peney.
